Menurut artikel dari digilib.unila.ac.id, Daryanto (1997:544) menyimpulkan bahwa sekolah adalah bangunan atau lembaga untuk belajar serta tempat menerima dan memberi pelajaran. Dengan mengetahui definisi tersebut sekarang kita ketahui sekolah ialah tempat belajar. Namun terkadang dengan itu sangat jarang pelajaran – pelajaran itu diaplikasikan. Oleh sebab itu saya berfikir bahwa sekolah haruslah membantu kita untuk dapat mengetahui cara mengaplikasikan pengetahuan – pengetahuan yang diberikan di sekolah. Namun sangat jarang saya temukan sekolah – sekolah di Indonesia yang sering membantu anak – anak muridnya untuk mengaplikasikan pelajaran – pelajaran di sekolah ke suatu projek. Namun salah satu sekolah yang saya pernah lihat memiliki teknik pembelajaran yang membebaskan anak – anak muridnya untuk membuat pengaplikasian berupa projek dari pelajaran yang sedang atau sudah mereka pelajari ialah Sekolah Pelita Harapan.
According to http://digilib.unila.ac.id, Daryanto (1997:544) conclude that school is a building or an institution to learn, also the place to accept and giving lessons. By knowing this definition, now we know that school is a place to learn. But, sometimes the lessons that we learn about rarely we apply it in real life. That’s why I think that school was the one that needs to help us apply the things that we learn from the school to real life. But, the fact was that I nearly never seen a school of that type in Indonesia. But, I’ve seen one that uses this technique, the technique of teaching by letting the students to do their projects up to their desire but needs to relate with the school lessons and that school is Sekolah Pelita Harapan.

Di Sekolah Pelita Harapan saya melihat beberapa projek yang anak murid Sekolah Pelita Harapan buat dan saya terkesan dengan projek – projek yang mereka buat. Yang membuat saya terkesan ialah betapa keren dan bemanfaatnya projek – projek yang mereka buat. Salah satunya ialah konverter tenaga alam yang terdiri dari sebuah solar panel dan sebuah turbin angin. Hal ini dilakukan oleh anak murid SMA. Saya melihat betapa hebatnya anak – anak murid Sekolah Pelita Harapan membuat suatu pengaplikasian pelajaran perubahan energi dari pelajaran Fisika ke dalam projek semacam konverter energi alami.
In this school I’ve seen some projects made by the students of Sekolah Pelita Harapan, and those projects amazed me. The thing that amazed me was the cool and useful of the project for human life. One of the project that attracted me was the natural energy converter, this project were made of a wind turbine and a solar panel. Also this project was made by a student from senior high school which was awesome. I’ve seen this Sekolah Pelita Harapan student’s project that was really amazing that they applied the physics lesson of energy converter into some kind of project like Natural energy converter.
Bukan hanya teknik pembelajaran yang sangat baik tetapi juga rasa cinta sekolah itu terhadap budaya Indonesia yang dapat saya lihat melalui usaha mereka melestarikan salah satu budaya Indonesia yang terkenal berupa Batik agar tidak punah. Usaha mereka untuk melestarikan budaya Indonesia ini ialah dengan mengajarkan anak – anak muridnya membuat Batik melalui Batik Corner. Membuat saya terkesan karena beberapa Batik yang anak murid mereka buat sangatlah bagus. Saya merasa senang atas anugerah Tuhan yang masih membiarkan sekolah seperti ini masih ada. Cara mereka mengajarkan membuat Batik juga masih tradisional ialah dengan membuat Batik dengan cara digambar menggunakan Chanting yang dicelupkan di lilin cair yang panas.
Not only just the technique of the teaching in Sekolah Pelita Harapan that amaze me, but also the feeling of love that school to Indonesian culture through conserving the most popular Indonesian culture that was Batik. Their work to conserve the Indonesian culture is by teaching the students to make Batik through Batik Corner. Things that make me more proud was that the Batik creation that their students made was really beautiful. I feel happy and grateful of God’s gift that keeps this kind of school exist. The way they teach were also really traditional because they uses Chanting that was filled with wax to made the Batik.

Saat berkunjung kesana kami langsung bersama – sama diajak melihat projek – projek anak murid kelas 10 keatas. Salah satu penemuan murid disana ialah bahwa kita bisa menyimpan energi Glow kristal Glow in the dark dengan cara membekukannya. Energi Glow ini sendiri dapat kita berikan kepada kristal Glow in the dark dengan cara menyinarkan laser ke kristal itu sendiri. Murid Sekolah Pelita Harapan ini bereksperimen dengan menaruh liquid nitrogen dan akhirnya ia menemukan bahwa dengan kristal es yang menutupi kristal Glow in the dark dapat mencegah energi Glow dari kristal itu keluar dari kristal. Selain penemuan – penemuan itu masih banyak penemuan lain seperti plester alami, converter tenaga alam (gabungan panel surya dan turbin angin untuk membuat listrik), dan program pengenalan benda.
Once there, we were instantly led to see the 10th grade students and above projects. One of the founding of the student was that he could keep the energy that Glow in the dark crystals has which is Glow Energy. We could give the Glow Energy to the crystals by shining lights on it. This student do an experiment by pouring Liquid Nitrogen into the Glow in the dark crystals and from that he founds that the ice crystals that covered the Glow in the dark crystals could keep the energy safe inside it. Beside that project, there are more awesome projects some of them were: Natural plasters, Natural energy converter (the mixing of solar panel and wind turbine to produce electricity), and item identification program.
Setelah selesai berkeliling, melihat projek murid – murid disana kami pergi ke lantai bawah dan datang ke Batik corner, disini kami ditunjukkan hasil – hasil Batik murid SPH LV dan ditunjukkan juga latar belakang mereka membuat Batik corner. Kemudian kami diajarkan membuat Batik. Disini kami diajarkan membuat Batik dari cara memegang chanting untuk membuat Batik. Kami juga diajak membuat Batik dan disini kami mengasah imajinasi dan ketrampilan tangan kami untuk membuat dan mendesain Batik tersebut. Setelah selesai membuat Batik, kami membawa pulang hasil Batik tersebut.
After finishing talking trips to see those projects, we went down stairs to the Batik Corner, here we were shown the Batik works of the SPH LV students and also shown the reason they build Batik Corner. Then, we were taught to make Batik. Here, we were taught how to hold the Chanting to make Batik. Also we were asked to make Batik of our own, which is hard because we need to brain storm our imagination and has a handy craft skill to make and design the Batik and make it. After we have done making the Batik we went home and bring our Batik design home.
Latar Belakang SPH Lippo Village membuat Batik corner ialah untuk mengenalkan anak murid di sekolah tersebut dengan budaya mereka sendiri yaitu Batik. Bukan hanya mengenalkan namun juga mereka ingin anak – anak murid dari SPH LV dapat membuat Batik agar Batik itu sendiri tidak punah.
The reason why they built Batik Corner is to introduce the students of the school to their own culture which is Batik. Not only introduced but they also wanted their students possible to make Batik so that the Batik itself didn’t go extinct.
Kegiatan – kegiatan yang kami lakukan di Batik corner ini ialah kami diajak mengenal Batik, juga membuat Batik. Kami diajarkan membuat Batik dan cara memegang dan mengontrol cepat tetes lilin chanting. Selain itu kami juga ditunjukkan beberapa hasil Batik dari anak murid SPH LV. Juga ditunjukkan latar belakang mereka membuat Batik corner ini. Disini kami diajarkan untuk membuat dan mengkreasikan Batik kami, setelah diajarkan membuat Batik kamipun membuat Batik karya kami sendiri dan membawa pulang hasil karya Batik tersebut.
The things we do in Batik Corner are that we were introduced to Batik and also taught to make Batik. We were taught about how to make Batik, from how to hold it and control the fast of the wax drop on Chanting. Except that, we also sees some of the Batik works from the students. Also they shown us the reason they made this Batik Corner. Here, we were taught to make and design our own Batik, after we’ve been taught to make Batik we made one by ourselves and brough it home.
Untuk membuat Batik dengan baik dan benar diperlukan ketrampilan tangan yang baik dan juga imajinasi yang baik karena Batik memiliki pola gambar yang sangat rumit. Membuat Batik tidak seperti menggambar menggunakan kuas namun membuat Batik ini diperlukan chanting karena itu kita harus fokus mengontrol cepat tetes dari chanting itu sendiri. Juga pola Batik yang berulang – ulang membuat kita harus mengkreasikan Batik itu sebaik mungkin agar cocok untuk diulang – ulang. Bukan hanya harus cocok dengan pola yang berulang – ulang namun juga harus berpola kedaerahan agar terungkap kebudayaan – kebudayaan didalamnya.
To make Batik correctly we need to have a good handy craft skill and also we need to have a good imagination to make the Batik because Batik has a complex patter. Making Batik isn’t just like painting using brush, because making Batik needs focus to control the speed of drops of the wax on the Chanting. Also the pattern of the Batik that was repeated make us needed to think of a Batik that fits using the repeated pattern. Not only need to fit with the repeated pattern but, also needed to has a cultural meaning on it.
Saat keliling di tempat projek – projek science yang dibuat murid – murid disana saya dapat menangkap 3 hal dari situ. Hal – hal tersebut ialah bahwa energi cahaya dari panel surya dapat mengasilkan energi listrik yang lebih besar dibandingkan energi gerak dari turbin angin, hal – hal alami dapat berkerja lebih aman atau tidak menyebabkan efek samping karena tidak memiliki zat kimia berbahaya didalamnya, dan akan selalu ada cara lain seperti murid SPH LV yang memanfatkan kemampuan programmingnya untuk membantunya menerjemahkan riset yang telah ia lakukan.
While we took trip in the science project area that was made by the students, I get 3 things that may be useful. Those things are that light energy which was caught by the solar panel could produce more electricity than motion energy that was caught by the wind turbine, natural things could be more safe because it doesn’t contain any chemicals so it would not cause side effects, and at last I learn that there is always another way, I learned this from one of the students in SPH LV that uses his programming skills to make a program that could help him to translate his research result.
Dari science corner yang kami datangi yang paling menarik perhatian kami ialah penghasil listrik tenaga alam. Alat ini terdiri dari panel surya dan turbin angin. Yang menarik perhatian kami ialah bagaimana cara untuk mengubah energi cahaya ataupun gerak menjadi energi listrik. Di projek ini juga kami menemukan fakta unik yaitu bahwa energi cahaya, tidak memerlukan cahaya matahari namun dapat berkerja dengan cahaya lampu apapun.
From the science corner that we visited, there was a project that attracted us and that was the natural energy converter. This project was made out of solar panel and wind turbine. The thing that attracted us was how to convert light and motion energy into electricity. In this project we found out that light energy didn’t only came from sunlight but it also came from any light source.
1. GOD is covering
Dari kunjungan kami ke SPH LV (Sekolah Pelita Harapan Lippo Village) ini kami jadi sadar akan kebesaran Tuhan atas menjaga kebudayaan Indonesia salah satunya Batik yang bukan hanya Tuhan jaga melalui SPH LV namun juga Tuhan perkenalkan ke negara luar. Bukan hanya itu, bersyukurnya juga hal itu dihargai oleh warga negara luar.
From this visit to SPH LV (Sekolah Pelita Harapan Lippo Village) we realized of the greatness of God at keeping one of our culture safe which is Batik, thanks to God who kept Batik safe through SPH LV and also introduce it to the other nation. Not only introduce it to the other nation but, thanks to God they also appreciate our Batik.
2. GO Discovering
Untuk tema yang satu ini kami jadi lebih mengenal budaya kami dan kami jadi bisa menjaganya dari kepunahan. Kami jadi bisa lebih menghargai kebudayaan kami sendiri karena kami mengetahui proses dan susahnya membuat Batik tersebut. Selain itu, kami jadi bisa melatih kemampuan imajinasi kami menjadi baik dengan melatih teknik Batik ini, selain melatih imajinasi namun juga melatih ketrampilan tangan dan kefokusan untuk mengotrol cepat tetes lilin dari Chanting.
From this theme we now could know our culture more and now we could keep it away from extinction. Also now we could appreciate our own culture, because now we know how hard it is to make Batik. Apart from that, by making Batik we could train our imagination to be better, beside training our imagination Batik also trained our hand craft skill and focus to control the fast of wax drop in Chanting.
Perjalanan ini berakhir dengan kesimpulan, bahwa proses tidak pernah menghianati hasil seperti murid SPH LV yang membuat program yang memakan waktu 2 minggu untuk membantunya menerjemahkan risetnya. Bukan hanya itu kami jadi lebih menghargai budaya kami dan juga kami jadi dapat melestarikan budaya kami agar budaya itu sendiri tidak punah.
At last this trip end with a conclusion, which is that process never betrayed the result, like the students of SPH LV that make the program for 2 weeks to help him translate his research result. Apart from that, this trip now helps us to appreciate our culture more and also helps us to conserve our culture so it wouldn’t extinct.
